I remembered the smell of ponds, the smell of jasmine, the smell of wet stones, of plum trees, kumquats and giant bamboos. It was all there, and in the ponds there were even carp steadily working towards their hundredth birthday.

Punk Floral
Normally, I'm not one for frilly, girly stuff. But when Givenchy's badass designer, Riccardo Tisci, incorporates the house's signature flower prints into the collection, somehow floral suddenly gets subversive and therefore infinitely cooler. Case in point: this limited-edition "couture" lipstick (see image) that comes in a leather case, which similarily toughens up frilly, girly blooms. The fuschia shade commemorates 10 years of Givenchy's fantastic Le Makeup line, of which I am a huge fan. The beauty line's artistic director, Nicolas Degennes, is basically a magician - in fact, it looks like he's even managed to turn me on to pink peonies.
