Max Factor - perfume and makeup company

Maksymilian Faktorowicz, Max Factor

About Max Factor
Max Factor is a cosmetics company founded in 1909 by Hollywood makeup artist, Maksymilian Faktorowicz (1877-1938). The Polish-Jewish businessman transformed the cosmetics industry, starting in the film industry with wig and theatrical makeup production. In the 1920s he began selling makeup to the public. The company was family owned until 1973 when it was sold to Norton Simon for $500 million. Proctor & Gamble purchased the company in 1991, and is currently owned by Coty, Inc. after the P&G merger in 2016. Learn more about the history of Max Factor.
