Cher (born Cherilyn Sarkisian on 20 May 1946 in El Centro, California), is an American singer, actress, and television personality. The "Goddess of Pop" gained popularity in 1965 as a folk-rock duo with her late ex-husband Sonny Bono for their number-one song "I Got You Babe." In the 1970s she became a TV personality on The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour show. She has starred on Broadway, and in the movies Mask, The Witches of Eastwick, and her Academy Award winning Best Actress role in Moonstruck. Her 1998 album Believe was her commercial peak, and her Closer to the Truth album, released in 2013, was her highest charting album. Cher has won many awards, Grammy, Emmy, Academy, Golden Globe, People's Choice, and Billboard Music awards. She launched a genderless fragrance Cher Eau de Couture in 2019.
