Frida Giannini is a fashion alchemist. Her designs combine wool with silk, suede with fur, and feathers with python and alligator. Then she layers hot pink, purple, acid green, and burgundy. Fittingly, Giannini made a name for herself at Gucci when she resurrected a bright floral print -- created in 1966 as a scarf for Princess Grace -- and splashed it on bags. Those Flora bags became some of the best-selling items in Gucci history and helped Giannini quickly ascend from handbag designer to creative director of the entire line. It's no wonder that her biggest tip for this fall includes wearing colors, and lots of them. "The most important colors are rust, purple, and turquoise," she says. "All those peacock colors."
