Michelle Pfeiffer Is Eau So Cool
She's known as one of the world's iconic beauties, but actress Michelle Pfeiffer never dreamed she'd ever work in the beauty industry. "It wasn't until I looked at the world [as] a new mother that I began to pay closer attention to what I was putting in and on my body," she says. And so started a decade-long journey to create a fragrance that would be both captivating and clean. She collaborated with the nonprofit Environmental Working Group to craft safe scents, avoiding questionable and potentially toxic components. "We narrowed down the usual palette of 3,000 ingredients that perfumers typically work with to roughly 300." The result is five dreamy unisex blends, but, she says, Torn, a blend of vetiver, patchouli, and vanilla bean, is her favorite. "It reminds me of what my father smelled like while I was growing up, which is an example of how strongly fragrance is tied to memory. But I really love them all."
