Aedes de Venustas Copal Azur
Aedes de Venustas Copal Azur - perfume for women
Copal Azur by Aedes de Venustas - An oriental fragrance inspired by the Mayan copal incense. Perfumer Bertrand Duchaufour used frankincense extract to recreate the essence of the copal tree resin, and mixed it with salty and ozonic notes, tonka, and myrrh to represent co-founder Karl Bradl's experience cycling down the coast of Tulum, Mexico. Launched late 2014 this incense fragrance is available as eau de parfum spray from Aedes and Barney's.

Aedes de Venustas Copal Azur
Wish You Were Here - When it comes to capturing the essence of a place, these perfumes definitely trump a postcard.
En Provencal Air
PERFUME -- Aerin Rose de Grasse ($185, aerin.com) is a classic rose perfume after a cleanse - still reassuringly floral but with soft, dewy notes.
PLACE -- Creative director Aerin Lauder took her inspiration from rose fields on the outskirts of Grasse, France, which is known as the perfume capital of the world.
London Calling
PERFUME -- Jo Malone London Lily of the Valley & Ivy ($65, jomalone.com) balanced its delicate namesake notes with a touch of earthy narcissus.
PLACE -- Conjuring a time and a location, this scent is meant to evoke the gentility of London during the Georgian era.
Mayan Ritual
PERFUME -- Warm, sexy, and somehow still fresh, Aedes de Venustas Copal Azur ($245, barneys.com) blends a salty marine accord with smoky incense.
PLACE -- Aedes de Venustas cofounder Karl Bradl got the idea for the scent while cycling through Tulum, Mexico, a boho-chic seaside town where locals burn copal, the Mayan incense made from local tree resin.
Caribbean Queen
PERFUME -- Tommy Bahama Island Life for Her ($78, tommybahama.com) is the virgin daiquiri of fragrances: a sweet mix of pear, peach blossom, and vanilla that's impossible not to like.
PLACE -- Perfumer Frank Voelke wanted to bottle the essence of living the good life - on a lush and tranquil Bahamian island, obvi.
Java Script
PERFUME -- Memo Paris Kedu ($250, memofragrances.com) has notes of grapefruit and freesia, but the true star is sweet-yet-toasty sesame.
PLACE -- The surprising blend captures the spirit of Kedu, a lush volcanic plain in Java, Indonesia, that's home to the famous Borobudur Buddhist temple, where monks traditionally burn sesame seeds to purify their souls.
