Jennifer Lopez has had a stellar year. There was her global tour, the starring role in Hustlers, that little runway moment in a very familiar green dress. And then she released a new fragrance - her 25th. So we thought we'd see how this new scent, Promise, compares to the Glow that started it all.
NAMESAKE - Lopez was hoping to capture the "scent of bare, glowing skin warmed by the heat of the body."
BOTTLE SERVICE - With the bottle's long, thin neck and full base, not to mention dangling charm akin to a belly chain, the nod to the curves of a body cannot be missed.
TAKING NOTES - Orange flower, jasmine, grapefruit, and vanilla.

Britney Spears Midnight Fantasy, $37.50 -- Dark berries, powdery florals, and amber are the hallmarks of this sexy scent, which Chandler Burr, curator of the department of olfactory art at the Museum of Arts and Design in New York City, calls "absolutely extraordinary." Whatever your feelings about pop music, many of its stars are cranking out superior fragrances, such as Midnight Fantasy, J.Lo Glow (a zesty, clean floral), and Kylie Minogue Darling (sugared fruit). Much of the credit goes to the perfumers behind them, who also created the luxurious Fresh Cannabis Santal and Chloe Love, Chloe.

The Supermodel Starlet - Much to the dismay of models everywhere, the mid-'90s marked the Hollywood invasion of their sacred turf: Stars began landing sever-figure contracts with beauty companies and snagging high-profile magazine covers (MC's first celeb cover was a pre-drama Jen Aniston in '96). What started with just a handful of actress endorsements - Juliette Binoche for Lancome in 1996; Jennifer Love Hewitt for Neutrogena in 1998 - snowballed into a full-fledged celebrity coup. Then, J.Lo's 2002 fragrance hit, Glow, started a star-scent firestorm, green-lighting even the most unlikely celeb-as-perfumer deals (Power by 50 Cent, anyone?). On the plus side, the latest partnerships are also breaking traditional beauty boundaries, with CoverGirl signing funny girl Ellen DeGeneres in 2008 and L'Oreal snagging Bollywood beauty (and Slumdog Millionaire lead) Freida Pinto this year."
