Layering Fragrances
The entry-level way to mix is either by spraying two single-note perfumes on top of each other, or by adding a dash of one to a perfume that already contains that note. ... Then there are those who go with everything-but-the-kitchen-sink method, layering on combinations that even the most esoteric perfumers would never reverse-engineer. "I walk out of the house with multiple things on," says fashion executive Roopal Patel. She starts with a citrusy body scrub in the shower, like a bergamot-and-lime one from Lunaroma in Burlington, Vermont, then adds Jo Malone cologne in Grapefruit or Orange Blossom (at the neck and wrists), or lately, maybe some Tom Ford Oud Wood, which she recently fell in love with, plus a little of Tata Harper's sweet, herbal Irritability Treatment oil (behind the ears).
