2019 The Best of Beauty SCENTS
The items that aced our toughest tests.
Lancôme Idôle is a bright thing, wrapped around a classic rose heart. Rose water lightens up a creamy base of vanilla and musk. And we love how the sleek, thin bottle lays flat in our palm, or on our dresser, like a piece of modern sculpture. (Soft notes of pear, pink pepper, jasmine)
$59 @ Sephora
Original Musk Oil
According to the company legend, Kiehl's Since 1851 Original Musk Oil was first developed in the 1920s. Today the formula has a flashy, powdery, sexy quality that comes alive on skin - and just never gets old. (Heady orange blossom, ylang-ylang, and neroli)
$42.50 @ Macy's
Angel Eau de Toilette
A lighter twist on the original gourmand fragrance. Mugler Angel Eau de Toilette is a fresh cocktail containing mandarin and berries. One spritz calms our racing pulse points and puts us in vacation mode. (Fruity floral notes of apple, peony, with patchouli and blond wood)
$84 @ Saks Fifth Avenue
It can't be easy developing a fragrance that embodies half the world's population. But, Calvin Klein Women kind of pulls it off. Soft and spicy, the multifaceted blend of orange flower, eucalyptus, and cedar is no delicate flower.
$106 @ ULTA
Eau de Minthe
Diptyque Eau de Minthé perfectly illustrates the mint leaf - not the sterile, cartoonish clean version we're used to but a leafy, uplifting, and soulful one. (Fougere with notes of floral Geranium and Patchouli)
$175 @ Nordstrom
Hemp & Ginger
There's a remarkable lightness to Clean Reserve Avant Garden Hemp & Ginger. Bergamot and ginger brighten heady notes of pepper and cardamom. The impression is of a spice field warming under an early sun.
$150 @ Bloomingdale's
Maison Margiela Replica
Under the Lemon Tree
Maison Margiela Fragrances Replica Under the Lemon Tree is full of surprises, including the fact that it contains no obvious lemon. The sparkling composition is more about conjuring the idea of a grove - grassy, breezy, and sun-drenched.
$126 @ Nordstrom
Acqua di Parma
Rosa Nobile Hair Mist
With every turn of the head, Acqua di Parma Rosa Nobile Hair Mist releases a cloud of peony, violet, and lily of the valley. The bouquet is too rich and refined to qualify as a halo, so think of it as more of a crown. (Rose mixes with mandarin, cedar, and musk)
$54 @ Sephora.com
Simply Divine Candle
Housed in an amethyst votive, Diana Vreeland Simply Divine Candle distills the softness and extravagance of tuberose, classic perfumery's most precious note. We could continue to wax poetic, but the name of this candle sums it up. (Orange flower, jasmine, with orris and sandalwood)
$90 @ Neiman Marcus
