Angel Thierry Mugler - eau de parfum for women

Angel by Thierry Mugler - "In the beginning was Angel - The gourmand fragrance that became a legend. Created in 1992 this pure fantasy became big news. Born from the Thierry Mugler's childhood memories, the first 'Oriental - Gourmand' shook up the sterile codes of perfumery. Angel Eau de Parfum awoke the sleepy femme fatale within and triggered metamorphic change into a glamorous star. Its mystery continues to perpetuate the myth. An inimitable's impossible to remain indifferent to the stunning scent. In cases of addiction, attachment verges on obsession. Caught between anticipatory delight and voluptuous bite...the overdose of vanilla and patchouli satiates our lust for beautiful substances to the point of ultimate delight."

The Culture of Fragrance
Take note: When someone insists that a perfume has universal appeal, they are selling you a line. And probably a perfume. The truth is our scent preferences are too emotionally charged and deeply rooted to win favor across the board. When we interviewed fashion and beauty experts from around the world, we discovered that fragrance is pretty heady stuff, with potent connections to spirituality, geography, and history.

"My first fragrance memory is of my mother mixing cow fat with wild plants to give it an aromatic scent. Although we didn't have perfume where I come from, African women wear a lot of essential oils. I still use scented oils in my bath or apply them right after I step out of the shower. They form a base for everything else; I think they complement the natural scent of my skin instead of overpowering it. My favorite essential oils are lavender, sandalwood, eucalyptus, and anything that has the smell of wildflowers. Once I'm dressed, I dab a bit of perfume on my wrists. My favorite right now is Thierry Mugler Angel."
--Model Nykhor Paul fled her native South Sudan as a refugee and now brings awareness to the crisis there through her campaign, We Are Nilotic.

Clean Fragrances
Fragrance has traditionally been expected to express a mood or it clings to. But some of the best new scents don't set out to seduce us or unfurl a faceted heart, petal by petal. They have scrubbed-down, aired-out notes that yield a prim, spotless, proverbially pure effect - and it's refreshing as hell.

Clean scents have been around for decades - almost always as an antidote to something else. ... During the 1990s, "clean" translated into fragrances with citrusy notes, palate-cleansing alternatives to the decade's strong, sweet gourmand confections, such as Thierry Mugler Angel. They had a splashy, transparent appeal but faded quickly, causing enthusiasm to wane as well.

The New Patchouli
Patchouli brings depth and sex appeal to a fragrance, and it's quite dark. It's also a note that reacts strongly to others you put next to it. When patchouli is mixed with something like vanilla, as in Thierry Mugler Angel, you get a sort of buttery warmth and a rich oriental scent.

Purists might scoff that this newish group of fragrances doesn't deserve a category of its own, but its growing popularity speaks to the sensual connection between smell and taste. They won't make you lick your pulse points, but they have strong hints of chocolate, vanilla, caramel, run, and cotton candy. Thierry Mugler Angel: A big fragrance that's frequently called an oriental, with berry, chocolate, and vanilla notes.

The Insiders
Four famously gorgeous women give us a peek into their private beauty and style stashes. Eva Mendes, Actress: Thierry Mugler Angel Eau de Toilette, $97. "It's my 'adult' perfume, though I've worn it since high school!"

("101 Ideas: Beauty Snoop." Marie Claire Oct. 2011: 136.)

Patchouli - Patchouli is all the rage this season, and fragrance experts say the scent is a serious aphrodisiac. We love these perfumes because they're all laced with the musky scent...but them mixed with feminine tones, like rose, jasmine, and berries, so you end up smelling sexy-fresh, not dirty-hippie. Thierry Mugler Angel Eau de Toilette, $67.
("Ask Cosmo: Drop-Dead Sexiest Fall Fragrances." Cosmopolitan Sept. 2011: 48.)

Hitting the High Notes - Angel by Thierry Mugler. Red berries, praline, and vanilla mingle with hints of pepper, patchouli, and white musk for a sweet, slightly spicy effect. ($97 for 80 ml.;
